About Me
Hey friends! I am just your average lady raising her two kiddos! I grew up in a very small town of about 1,000 people. I knew all my class mates and everyone knew everyone’s business. We had an ice cream shop right up the road, and many swimming holes. I did enjoy my upbringing. We owned an old farm home, that later turned into a butcher shop. We bought it when I was just 5 years old. My parents were a happily married young couple buying their first home to raise their kids in. We planted a garden every year! My mother canned quite a bit. I still haven’t picked up how to do that. One day maybe I will give it a whirl!
When I left home at 18, I moved to a bigger city for work. I was in a few factories, I farmed, and I worked many customer service jobs. I had my daughter at 20 years old, and since I was such a young mother, staying home to raise her wasn’t really in the cards. My parents and grandparents switched off watching her so that I could work. Her father passed when she was only a year old. Fast forward many years of therapy later, at 32, I was pregnant with my son. His dad and I unfortunately didn’t work out, and I was left to raise him by myself as well. His dad didn’t really come into the picture until he was a year old. My son was colicky and nothing like his sister. She was as easy of a baby as they came! So I was however, able to stay home to raise him.
I learned that being a stay at home mom was way harder than I thought. I learned a lot of ways to make things easier, especially when we are only given two hands! I lost a lot of sleep, a lot of patience, and gained a lot of grey hair. Was it worth it? Hell yes. I’d do it all over again. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right? So this is where this blog comes in. I wanted to find a way to support my family and to help others that are maybe in very similar shoes. We fail, we cry, we put on our shirt backwards sometimes because we are so damn tired. But hey that’s life and we gotta make the best of it. These kids are only little once and we are who they look up to. I hope you find my blog at the very least entertaining. I also hope some tips and shortcuts I have help you too. And we can always use more friends.
