Hello Friends!

Hi, I am Katy! I hope you are as happy as I am being a mother. Not that it doesn’t come with problems, grey hair, and stretch marks, but maybe if we all team up together and make the ride a little more enjoyable, we can get through it together!
I have created Garden Rascals as a space to find some tips, tricks, inspiration and maybe a few laughs!
Let’s dive into topics like:
- Parenting Pointers & Hacks: Let’s get our brains thinking, maybe with a little extra coffee, and see what we can do to make our motherly duties less stressful!
- Gardening with Kids: That sounds like a hassle doesn’t it? Well, it can be, but if you give them their own tools and their own responsibilities, they can be a great extra pair of hands.
- Outdoor Excursions: Who doesn’t love a great walk in the woods on a cool spring day? Think of all the fun things your little ones could find along the way!
- DIY Projects & Crafts: If you pick projects that you also enjoy, you and your kids could have endless hours of fun.
Whether you need some direction in your daily life, want some fun things to help you with gardening, or simply want a little support, Garden Rascals is here to help you.
Thank you for embarking on this journey with me. Let’s nurture our gardens and families together!
Wishing you joy in gardening and in motherhood!
Aren’t introductions the hardest? You think about all the cool things you want to say about yourself, but then think hmmm I don’t know if I should say that. Well, I am a mother of two. I have always called Wisconsin home. I recently took up gardening, trying to go as nontoxic with everyday things as possible, and live a more simple life. I grew up in central Wisconsin with my parents. As far back as I can remember we always had a garden, and I loved to pick the fresh peas with my dad. My mother canned lots of tomatoes. Out at my grandparents house they had blackberry bushes as far as the eye could see. Grandpa and I needed to always bring in buckets full so Grandma could make her mouth watering pies! All I want now is to create these memories for my kids. I feel a lot of these old traditions are dying and we should try living off the land again. God gave us this beautiful land and I say we use what we were given. There’s so much joy in not spending gobs of money on fruit and vegetables at the store, and being able to just pick it right out of the garden.
Why Garden Rascals?
Motherhood brings a mix of emotions, some pretty awesome experiences and a ton of obstacles. I would like to think I have some pretty good ideas and would love to share them. I want to keep my busy little boy out of trouble and harms way, so I’m always looking for new activities for him. My daughter is a teenager and let’s face it, they don’t really like spending their free time with their parents, or off the phone for that matter. So I have to be creative there too! My children are 11 years apart so trying to find things we all can enjoy has its challenges. Through Garden Rascals, I hope to provide helpful advice, maybe a few suggestions, and motivational tales to help support other moms out there. Let’s get to it!
